Veteran Jason Leonard (Age 35, 114 caps) was dropped from the squad that played Italy. Matt Dawson (aged 31, 60 Caps) returned to the England starting lineup, as did veteren Niel Back (aged 35, 66 tests) to the reserve bench. Lock Steve Borthwick returned after a 2 week suspension. Experienced England locks Danny Grewcock and Simon Shaw were not selected because of injuries. Veteran Longwell (aged 32, 26 caps) was recalled to the Irish squad. He replaced injured Donncha O'Callaghan. O'Kelly was recalled to make his 62nd cap for Ireland, just one behind the legendary Willie John MacBride. Greenwood played his 50th test for England. Grayson scored his 400th international point for England. |
