For France, the injured Jean-Baptiste Elissalde was replaced by fly half JulienPeyrelongue with Michalak being Yachvili's understudy.Cédric Heymans and Aurélien Rougerie were dropped from the squad, being replaced by fullback Clément Poitrenaud and wing Pépito Elhorga, who returned from injury. Vincent Clerc went to the reserves.
Flanker Julien Bonnaire gained his first cap for France.
Veteran Olivier Magne returned to the starting lineup replacing the injured Imanol Harinordoquy.
For Scotland, missing  from the squad and out with injury was veteran Scottish and Lions prop Tom Smith.
