MATCH NOTES Source-all data thanks to www.planet-rugby.com Welsh coach Steve Hansen bid farewell to Welsh rugby win a good win. A great milestones was reached by 35 year old veteran Welsh lock Gareth Llewellyn who equalled Niel Jenkins record for most tests for Wales (87) . Carlo Checchinato was unable to take the field because of a calf strain and thus missed an opportunity to surpass former captain and scrum half Alessandro Troncon's record of 84 caps for Italy. Another blow for Italy was the unavailability of Captain Andrea de Rossi through injury from the original selection. Marco Bortolami moved to the side of the scrum with South African-born Carlo Del Fava moving into lock to win his first test cap for Italy. Roberto Mandelli took his place on the bench. When he took the field during the game he won his first cap for Italy. Stephen Jones was top 6 Nations scorer for 2004 with 44 points (8 conversions & 13 penalty goals). |
