Wales, the defending 6 Nations champion, was mauled by an England team rampant in the second half. 33 year former England Captain Dallaglio reappeared after retiring from international rugby 17 months earlier. Mark Jones regained his place in the Welsh team after a break of 2 years due to injury. Adam M. Jones was a late bench replacement for Gareth Delve.
