NOTES England won back the Calcutta Cup, having lost it to Scotland the previous season. Eleven out of the 22 who played against South Africa in England's last test in November were missing. There was also a change of captain and a change of coach. Rees, Morgan & Farrell were making their test debut for England. Mike Tindall returned to the England side after a season to play his 50th test. Vickery and Corry were also playing their 50th test for England. Wlkinson last played in the 2003 Rugby World Cup final. Farrell is a former Great Britian rugby league captain who had played just 7 first class rugby union club games before this test.Robinson,who came out of retirement, last played for England in 2004.Paterson passed 500 points for Scotland in tests.
