Gareth Thomas was making a record-breaking 93rd test appearance for Wales. Huxley and Norton-Knight were making their test debut for Australia. When Gregan took the field he moved to halfback for Giteau to move to the centres. Giteau's try saw him reach 200 points for Australia. Ceri Jones was making his test debut for Wales.
