MATCH NOTES The weather was very wet, raining and very cold. Hore, Tialata, Mealamu, Williams, McCaw, Ellis, Carter, Sivivatu, Muliana and MacDonald were members of New Zealand’s 2007 Rugby World Cup squad. Tuitavake,Kaino and Thomson were making their test debut for New Zealand. Cowan last played for New Zealand v South Africa, September 2006. Thorn last played for New Zealand in 2003. Since 2005 he had played rugby league in the Australian NRL. Afoa last played for New Zealand v England, November, 2005. Kaino was born in American Samoa Michael Bradley was Ireland's coach for this tour as a stand in before Ireland's new coach took over.
