MATCH NOTES

Donald and Boric were making their test debuts for New Zealand. Cowan last played for New Zealand against South Africa September 2006.

Newly appointed England coach Martin Johnson, who led England to their World Cup title in 2003, was unable to make the tour. Head of England rugby, Rob Andrew filled in as interim coach. From England's last test match against Ireland in March only Wigglesworth, Borthwick, Mears and Sheridan remained from the starting fifteen. Nigerian born Ojo was making his test debut for England and scored two tries on debut. Paice and Care were also playing their first test for England. Sheridan was the only survivor of the England starting XV that lost to South Africa in the 2007 Rugby World Cup Final.
