This result was the biggest win by South Africa over Australia.

South African winger Jonger Notkwe's 4 tries was a record for a Tri Nations test. The first of his tries was his first for South Africa. South Africa's record test holder Percy Montgomery announced his retirement from international rugby at the end of the game having played his 102nd test. Bekker's try was his first for South Africa as was Ndunganes'.
