COUNTRY DATA

This section hopes to cover each nation’s international rugby stats year-by-year.

This is a work in progress as I gradually upload the data for each nation. Click on the nation below and see where I’m up to.
If you can contribute to this data either by noticing errors or by adding to what I don’t have then contact me at rugint@bigpond.net.au
A special thanks to Stuart Farmer whose data on scrum.com for the main nations is, in most cases, my comparison.

Georgia’s test rugby data has been updated. The seasons 2012-13 to 2014-15 inclusive were added 12.02.2016

LATEST DATA ADDITION TO THIS WEB SITE (30/04/2020)

A special welcome to Giles Etienne and his rugby data research work on test rugby point scorers for tier 2 and below nations.

Firstly, my apologies to Giles. This has been a work in progress for some time. There have been many delays on my part. But we have made it. Giles has an introduction below to his work.

Tier 2-3 NATIONS POINT SCORERS. Compiled by Giles Etienne

Introduction

I started to list the players who have scored in the 3rd unions opposing matches for more than 20 years now thanks to the emergence of internet.

But I had begun to be interested in statistics in rugby for much longer, actually as far back as I can remember. I must say that I do not know where it comes from, compiling the statistics in sport is not really in the French mentality, rather Anglo-Saxon. At the time (I was a teenager), I started making sheets about the players of the XV of France; today, I was able to develop the complete dictionary of all French internationals, with as complete data as possible and a photo of each one of them.

Then, gradually, I became interested in foreign players (I mean non-French!), first the All-Blacks, the British and other 1st unions, then the 2nd unions, and finally the 3rd unions, as the number of countries involved in test-matches increased.

Data below are from a systematic compilation of all the match sheets and reports I have gathered since 2001 (but quite complete only from 2011), plus various books, booklets, annuals and Unions web pages. I would like here to pay tribute for the work done by the continental associations and World Rugby to publish the match sheets; Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania; Americas (mostly South America) are still far behind for that. And many thanks also to everyone around the world who has the patience and kindness to respond to my requests.

These data are indicative (a lot of match sheets were incomplete or aberrant, and there are quite often discrepancies between newspapers reports on the same match), but fairly representative I think so. For the players of the years 2000~2010, the tries and point scored is probably by default, due to lack of data, except for some countries that at some times have published (website, booklets) complete historical statistics (such as Sweden, Malta, Latvia, Luxembourg, Hungary, etc. ...).
